Success of CCA Orientation 2009

CCA Orientation is an annual event at the start of every year to let every CCA showcase their strength and do their recruitment drive. This year CCA orientation for Deyi Sec NPCC Unit is unqiue because for the first time our orientation evolve around our vision for the Unit - Skills for Life. We are not simply setting up a booth to attract Sec1s and hoping that they are interested in NPCC but we are sending the message across to the school population as well as the Sec1s that Deyi Sec NPCC had its mission and vision that is unique only to us. We are not selling our campcraft skills nor are we selling our Drills...but we are selling to them the lifeskills that they will earn after 4 years of training.

The Orientation committee was set up in early Nov 2008 with the Coordinator SGT(NPCC) Low Wei Jun and Assistant Coordinators SGT(NPCC) Siti, SGT(NPCC) Chanel Tan and SGT(NPCC) Kanthan. The team was guided by CIs and HOs and the team submitted their proposal by end of Nov. The preparation started immediately after the approval of the proposal from the OC Unit.

The FDS Squad was formed up in mid Dec 2008 by the Sec1 squad (2008) which was again the first time that we are trusting our lower Sec cadets to put up a performance of high drills standard and high level of precision which of course including the fancy formation and hand movements. Th FDS Squad had 6 full days training in the Dec holidays from 8am to 5pm and 2 half days training when school reopen. They had the challenge to pick up the skills and memorise the steps and formations with lots of emphasis on their precision. The hardwork put in by the Sec1s (2008) was indeed evident as they put up a wonderful performance during the orientation. The team was highly motivated and disciplined as they concentrate on putting up the best performance to make the blue uniform proud!

Let's not forget about the Parade that we had hosted for the other 4 other Uniformed Groups. It was a success after 2 days of tough training under the hot sun. NPCC had done well to display high precision rifle drills for the Guard of Honour as well as baton drills for the supporting contingent. Of course, this will not happen without the help from the CIs who told their time off their tight school schedule to train the parade. Well Done!!!

The Orientation had indeed gel the Unit to work together as one big family and having the news from the HOD (PE and CCAs) Mr Zaman that alot of Sec1s are interested to join NPCC had proved the success of this orientation to attract the Sec1s for we train them the Skills For Life.

Once again, let's be proud to announce our success and special thanks to everyone who had put in the months of hardwork having most of the holidays burnt for extra trainings all the way from the OC Unit, TOs, 3 HOs, 6 CIs, Orientation Committee, SCLs, the FDS team and of course last but not least, everyone in the Unit who had supported the Orientation in one way or another.

3 CHEERS TO DEYI NP!!!! Let's hope this is a good headstart for the Unit for this new Year 2009.
