Sec4 Passing Out Parade 2009

The day arrived relatively fast for the passing out of the Sec4s Senior Cadet Leaders. This batch of Sec4s joined us in the year 2006 with a strength of 25 and today standing in front of the parade square there's only 11 who survived the journey. But it was these 11 NPCC warriors of Deyi who hand in hand with the Instructors attained our very first Gold award for UOPA. And for many years...the very first time Deyi Sec Sch NPCC cadets achieved 4 SPF-NPCC Badge at one go...the pinnacle of all badges in NPCC. The one and only one cadet who attained the badge was in year 2004 ex-Chairman SSGT (NPCC) Ang Yu Heng.

Exactly one year ago on 07 Aug 08, the incoming vice-Chairman of the Unit SGT (NPCC)Ryan Ng received over the Sword of Command from outgoing Chairman SI (NPCC) Zhang Pindong. Today, on the 07 Aug 09, they had officially passed out and outgoing Chairman SI (NPCC) Gary Toh had handed over the Sword of Command to incoming Chairman SGT (NPCC) Alan Lee.

Over the past one and a half years, this batch of sec4s had went through numerous events, trainings and excitement...for many things that are happening in the Unit now were spearheaded by this batch of sec4s and their CI Mentors then to kickstart a brand new training programme for our cadets such as Unit Outing, CIP, Games Day, etc.

As well as for the first time, our Unit initiated a Mentoring system where each CI was attached to a few Cadet Leaders to guide them through on proposal writing, leadership skills, providing constructive feedbacks on training styles, etc. This mentoring system was even extended outside NPCC where the Sec4s and their mentors discussed about sch work and the CIs for a moment became tuition teacher to them. This mentorship had indeed been a very successful project and deep friendship was forged as a result. It was a memorable moment working together with the Sec4s and there were unwillingness to see them leave but nonetheless they had contributed more than enough to the Unit.

Passing Out Parade 2009 07 Aug 09 was the day where CI mentors had their gift prepared to show how much they treasured their mentees and the mentees had their gift to show how much they appreciated their mentors. There were POP videos prepared, light refreshment and for the cadets to present to the sec4s their token of appreciation...last but not least the passing out parade where the Sec4s for the last time, exhibited their drills on the parade square. Teary eyes were a common sight even in the Instructors. There were awards given out as well and the fixation of the Station Inspector insignia for our two SIs.

They are:

OC's Commendation Award: SI (NPCC) Gary Toh
Best Cadet Leader Award: SI (NPCC) Alicia Teo
Best Training Cadet Leader Award: SSGT (NPCC) Low Wei Jun
Best Administratio Cadet Leader Award: SSGT (NPCC) Ryan Ng
Best Logistic Cadet Leader Award: SSGT (NPCC) Chanel Tan

Best Unit Cadet (Male): SI (NPCC) Gary Toh
Best Unit Cadet (Female) : SI (NPCC) Alicia Teo

"Baris Bersu-Rai" was the command given and the Sec4s officially passed out from NPCC after their 4 years of commitment...but the friendship continues...

Let us all wish our Sec4s all the best for their O and N levels and future endeavours...we hope to see them back as Instructors and CIs soon after their exams...remember: this door is always opened for you, because this npcc family is always here for you. We are a family...
