Area 3 Parade in celebration of NPCC 50th Anniversary

NPCC history has come a long way and this year we celebrated our Golden Jubilee 50th Anniversary during our NPCC Annual Parade 2009 some time back in April. In addition to the HQ celebration, Area 3 NPCC Units have all come together to form up a Parade and have our own mini celebration.

This Parade was suggested by our AC DSP (NPCC) David Chen during the early part of the year and Deyi Sec Sch was honoured to be tasked to host this Parade. The Parade was originally scheduled to be in July but because due to H1N1 thus it was postponed to October.

Upon receiving information from our OC that we will be hosting the Parade and Area Games day Talent time, a CI committee was immediately formed up having CI (NPCC) Alan Tok as the Chief Trainer and a CL committee under the supervision of CI (NPCC) Xiu Hao was formed up to plan for the Area Games Day. Soon after we received the news that the Parade will be postponed, the leadership was handed over to CI (NPCC) Xiu Hao to be the Chief Trainer as CI (NPCC) Alan Tok has to serve his NS.

Finally drawing closer to the date, appointments and coordination with other schools began. CI (NPCC) Jiahao was appointed as the Parade Commander, CI (NPCC) Ng Rong Rong was appointed as the Guard-of-Honour Contingent Commander and CI (NPCC) Jocelyn Sim was appointed as the Supporting Contingent Commander. The rest of the contingents from our Area Units were represented by their individual CIs/ CLs. Due to scale of this Parade, our 4 Instructors were recalled immediately after their N levels to help out in the training. I am indeed pleased to see such commitments and response from our Instructors team. We are a family.

As this parade fell on examination period, Mayflower Sec and Yio Chu Kang Sec could not join us and First Toa Payoh was having their level camp. Nevertheless, the Parade was formed up with a Contingent of Guard-of-Honour, the School Flag Party and 5 Supporting Contingents from the 5 participating schools.

Our cadets have done us proud and shown the utmost standard of discipline and endurance. The Parade was very successful and AC was very pleased with the performance from all the participating schools. Keep it up and good work to the Instructors and Cadets from Deyi Sec Sch as well as other Area schools.

After the Parade was over, the cadets all proceed to the multi-purpose room for the Talent Time competition. It was a simple Games day for our Area cadets to display their own talent outside the scope of NPCC. It was surprising to note that there were actually lots of talent in our Area cadets such as Dancing, Acting, etc. I believed the cadets did enjoyed themselves by excitement that filled the room throughout the competition. Excellent job to the CLs organising committee who were none other than SGT(NPCC) Zhi Guang and SGT(NPCC) Wei Teng and of course to one and all who has contributed in one way or another to make this event a successful one.

3 Cheers to Area 3!!! and Deyi Sec!!! Keep up the good work!!!
